Systems + Interaction Design

Co-taught with Levi Hammett

Junior Studio is a new model of teaching and learning introduced through the two Junior courses Systems in Design and Interaction in the Fall 2015 semester by faculty members Levi Hammett and Basma Hamdy. The goal behind this model is to create a less fragmented and more holistic learning experience for the students in order to address real-world conditions while following an intensive, research-grounded and in-depth approach to the solution or intervention. The Studio follows a non-hierarchical teaching model where the structure and content of the course is collaboratively developed with the students. The focus of the studio is producing design actions that develop out of a thorough and comprehensive research model with an awareness of the impact and implications of the design outcomes.
