Wider die Müdigkeit (“Against the fatigue”)

CULTURAL INTERVENTION AND LITERARY AWAKENING
June 2 & 3, 2012, Berlin, Germany
Organized by Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung

Over the course of two days, writers, scientists, musicians, painters, graphic novelists and curators from Arabia, Middle and Eastern Europe talk about their resistance under authoritarian regimes. They present their artistic and intellectual reactions to the social situation in their home countries, which, in the end, led to great changes – a year ago in Egypt and Tunisia and since 1989 in Eastern European countries. The concept for this festival “Wider die Müdigkeit” (“Against the fatigue”) originates from a thesis about “tired western society”, by the teacher of philosophy and media theory at University of Karlsruhe, Germany, Byung-Chul Han. Through readings, interviews, movies and music, our international guests will discuss the interactions between art and politics.
